Dogs in My Dreams

Song information

I've got DOGS IN MY DREAMS, it's one hundred and one in the shade
And I'm stuck to my chair; I'm beginning to sweat lemonade
The air is a tourniquet sqeezing and burning
It's cut off the juice to my brain
I've got DOGS IN MY DREAMS, it's one hundred and one in the shade.

Now, the heat from the pavement just hangs in a permanent haze
And the night's no delight cause it's twice as uptight as the days
This morning I swear, I looked up from my chair
My girlfriend had melted away
I've got DOGS IN MY DREAMS, it's one hundred and one in the shade.

There's a small bead of sweat rolling down from my brow to my chin
And I need some fresh air, but I can't breathe it all the way in

I'd stick my head in a barrel of ice
It'd freeze my brain but it'd sure feel nice
I'd shave all my hair, shed all my clothes
But just think what the neighbors would say--heaven knows!

There's a buzz in the air: the grass sizzlin' out on the lawn
I take seven cold showers a day just to keep my head on
My clothes are an agony next to my skin
I've rented my car to bake pottery in
I've got DOGS IN MY DREAMS, it's one hundred and one in the shade...

Just to be where it's froze, I swear the Eskimos got it made
I've got DOGS IN MY DREAMS, it's one hundred and one in the shade.
